What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a 5,000-Year-old medicine originating in India. It is based on the principle that all organisms are made up of ether, air, fire, water and earth. As the elements organize themselves within the body, they are called doshas. When the doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) are in balance, each cell works as it should. However, through various lifestyle and eating habits, doshas can accumulate and become aggravated, causing imbalances throughout the body.

What does it look like when the doshas are aggravated?

We are all comprised of all three doshas. Because the doshas manifest in our bodies differently, people feel out of balance in different ways. Aggravated doshas can show up as (but are not limited to): anxiety, insomnia, lethargy, digestive issues, dryness, inflammation and congestion. When healing through Ayurveda's ancient wisdom, we do not use a one size fits all approach. Your current state of mind, body, time of life, and the season are all assessed to determine the best way to balance. When a person is out of balance, Ayurveda treats based upon the individual's constitution.
